Barry’s Story
Barry was trained as an options market maker at Cooper Neff in the early 90’s and was further mentored by John Felix Bender (Soros Fund). For 20 years, he traded in the pits at the NYMEX, COMEX, CBOT and also on the floor of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange.
Barry is truly “old school” as he traded for a decade in the pits in NYC with pen and paper, while using static options pricing from a primitive model under the badge BVS (aka “Beavis). Risk management was done with a pencil on a mini-legal pad which was attached to the back of his trading pad, all through the organized chaos of the open outcry trading system.
Later in his career, he embraced technology and was an electronic options market-maker for WTI on day one back in 2007, and simultaneously became an impactful trader in the OTC market. 20 years of trading options and managing risks of massive portfolio’s across multiple asset-classes, makes Barry an options MAVEN and his insight into macroeconomics and risk management of derivatives is invaluable to the audience of Investment Mavens.
